Girl Scouts, Staff Led Troops

The greatest program impacts can be seen through the changing attitudes and behaviors of girls who have participated in staff-led Girl Scout troop meetings at their school or a community site. Staff leaders act as role models and mentors for girls, teaching them teamwork, confidence, positive values, ways to respectfully disagree, and how to give back to their community.

During the 2021-2022 program year, staff leadership especially stressed the importance of giving back. To serve their community, one group of girls enthusiastically planned and held a Day of Caring at New Tech at Cherokee Elementary School. They collected items to donate a large gift basket to the girls and women at RISE, including feminine products, bath and hygiene products, and fun items such as nail polish. Other completed projects included a breast cancer parade and a hygiene drive by girls in the 7th and 8th Grade Academy. Through these projects, girls learned hands-on lessons in planning, working as a team, adjusting to new circumstances, and leading with a heart of service.
