“Head Start” on Nutrition- our objectives for funding this project was to work with the Muskogee County Head Start/Early Head Start to increase access to healthier foods. We worked with HONA who sourced all the produce weekly for us. Providing the mobile markets helped increase access to produce with the goal of improving health and ensuring good nutrition among underserved families with food insecurity. In 2021, there were a total of 27 mobile markets with 3,933 pounds of fresh, local produce to Muskogee County Head Start and Early Head Start families. 85% of participants said the Mobile Farmers’ Market increased their families’ fruit and vegetable intake, and providing the mobile markets helped increase their consumption of red, orange, and dark green vegetables.
